Having graduated from Colorado State University's Landscape Architecture program in 2015, Christy has extensive experience working with the land both hands-on and in a studio setting. Christy's career took off after earning her BA, when she moved to Vermont for her first season trying out organic farming to learn what it was like working with the land with her hands, trying to better understand the landscape outside of an academic studio setting.
From there, Christy spent the early parts of her career juggling both professional landscape design work and organic farm management until she found a career in Landscape Architecture in Truckee in 2017. Since then, Christy has worked for Landscape Architecture firms in high desert ecosystems, in Truckee/Tahoe and Flagstaff, getting to know local flora extensively, along with learning commercial, residential, and municipal design.
After gaining experience working in local government in the Truckee/Tahoe area as a land use planner for two and a half years, Christy was able to learn the ins and outs of local development codes and permitting processes. She not only understands what scopes of work require a permit, but has learned respect for local government processes that aim to protect erosion, our watersheds, and ultimately maintain the pristine state of Lake Tahoe.
Christy’s work experience spans from being a part of the design team for the Community Arts Center in Truckee, designing multiple residential lakefront landscapes on Tahoe, graphic design for interpretive trail signage and watershed protection for the Town of Truckee, and experience designing landscapes and creating renderings for commercial and municipal designs in Northern Arizona.
